The paper deals with the use of data from Building Information Models in the open IFC format for building energy management during the operational phase of the building life cycle. It analyzes the connection between static BIM models and real buildings through the concept of digital twins and the Internet of Things, as well as barriers to interoperability between BIM, energy management and simulation tools. For the InnovAIte project, the article is relevant as a basis for using structured semantic data, machine learning and deep learning methods for energy consumption prediction and real-time operation optimization.
