From March 9-11, 2026, the 21st edition of VISAPP (International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications) brought together global experts to discuss the latest theoretical and applied advances in the field. VISAPP serves as a premier international forum dedicated to bridging the gap between theoretical research and its practical application in the real world. The conference focuses on a wide spectrum of specialized areas, including pattern recognition, image and video analysis, 3D reconstruction, and deep learning.

The FMFI UK team utilized this platform to showcase the latest research and progress developed within the project. This year, the team was represented by Viktor Kocur, Martin Madaras, Lukáš Gajdošech, Carlos Pizarroso, Matej Mok, and Zuzana Berger Haladová, who actively participated in the sessions and shared insights from three distinct research directions. A major highlight of the participation was the presentation of three papers reflecting the diverse innovation within contemporary computer vision. The contributions included:

  • Billboard in Focus: Analyzing driver gaze duration from single images.
  • 3D Line Segments: Improving 6DoF pose estimation under data constraints.
  • Decentralized Learning: Exploring privacy-preserving federated learning on edge devices.

The presentation at VISAPP 2026 provided a valuable opportunity for the FMFI UK team to engage with the the global community and discuss the implications of their research for the future of the field.
